Senators' Karlsson playing with heel fractures

BOSTON -- Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson told ESPN.com that he played the first-round series against the Boston Bruins with two hairline fractures in his left heel.

Karlsson suffered the injury when he blocked a shot during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on March 28 that forced him to miss three of the last five games of the regular season.

He re-aggravated the injury when he played back-to-back games against the Detroit Red Wings on April 3 and 4. He's been receiving injections on his heel.
