Canadiens' Galchenyuk out with lower-body injury

The Montreal Canadiens' top scorer, center Alex Galchenyuk, is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury, the team announced Monday.

Galchenyuk, whose nine goals and 23 points are both tops for Montreal, banged right knees with Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar during their game Sunday.

The Canadiens said Galchenyuk, 22, went through tests Monday in St. Louis, where they play the Blues Tuesday night, and will be further evaluated back in Montreal on Wednesday.

Galchenyuk had surgery for a torn ACL on his left knee while playing in juniors in the fall of 2011, but was still selected third overall by Montreal in the 2012 NHL Draft.
