With two months to go, the Oilers are in position to make a run at the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
As the All-Star break comes to a close and the NHL season resumes, a lot of teams find themselves within a few points of a playoff spot. The Edmonton Oilers are not one of those teams. Currently, they sit in last in the Western Conference with 45 points, and eight points behind the Anaheim Ducks for the third divisional playoff spot. Despite such a poor record, there is hope for this organization during their last 31 games.
It’s to no one’s surprise that the Oilers are sitting in last, since that’s generally where they’ve been since 2006.
