Saints, Falcons hold hands together on field after anthem as sign of unity

Before Monday night’s Saints–Falcons game in New Orleans, both teams stood at midfield following the national anthem and held hands in a sign of unity.

The display comes on the heels of several NFL players choosing to kneel or raise fists during the anthem to voice concerns over racial injustice. After a pair of black men were killed by police this week, New Orleans running back Mark Ingram said, “It’s not right, man. It’s not right.”

The two teams join the Seattle Seahawks, who have also locked arms before games.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first player to protest, kneeling during the anthem during the preseason.
