The MLB trade deadline on July 31st is rapidly approaching, and the trade rumors are starting to heat up. One team that has been the subject of several are the New York Yankees. Yankees Interested In Rich Hill?
The Yankees are one of several teams interested in Oakland A's pitcher Rich Hill, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Hill returned from the disabled list Saturday and the Yankees were one of several teams that sent scouts to watch. The 36-year-old Hill has been great in this season, as well as his four-game stint with the Red Sox last year. With the A's struggling again this year, Hill is firmly on the trade block.
Will New York Deal Andrew Miller?
With a strong bullpen, the Yankees have been rumored repeatedly to trade Andrew Miller (or even Aroldis Chapman). However, the Yankees have told Miller he won't be traded, according to MLB.com.
"The media has been throwing a few things out there, but I've had reassurances from them at the times I've talked to them that it's something that hasn't been discussed or planned for or anything like that," Miller said. "I think that's kind of nice."
Still, expect Miller's name to continue to come up in trade rumors until the deadline passes. Miller's comments also contradict Buster Olney's ESPN Insider report that the Yankees are listening to offers for Miller, Chapman and others.
Yankees "Major Players" And Looking At Matt Moore?
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports the Yankees could be major players at the deadline, if they chose. Players like Miller, Chapman and Dellin Betances would fetch an impressive return, and even older players like Carlos Beltran and C.C. Sabathia have value. However, Cafardo isn't sure GM Brian Cashman wants to turn into a seller. That's backed up by their interest in Rays' pitcher Matt Moore. If the Rays decide to move him, the 22-year old should get a solid return.
