ATLANTA — Mark Teixeira remained out of the lineup Saturday night, and until the first baseman’s bruised right leg gets significantly better, it’s doubtful he’ll be back on the field even as a pinch-hitter.
“I don’t know if I’ll use him; I really don’t,” Joe Girardi said. “Seems like the running irritates it, so, my guess is, no. . . . Obviously it’s not healing as quickly as we thought, so, it’s really a guess for me. So we’ll just wait and see.”
Greg Bird continues to stand in for Teixeira at first base, starting for the 10th time since Aug.
