Yankees' Brian Cashman recaps blockbuster, dealing Blake Rutherford

MINNEAPOLIS — Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has been frustrated watching his club tumble from first to third in the AL East during a month-long slide.

On Tuesday night, after many trade talks with the Chicago White Sox, he pulled the trigger on a seven-player deal that brought in relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle plus power-hitting third baseman Todd Frazier.

The White Sox received veteran reliever Tyler Clippard plus three prospects, touted 20-year-old Low-A outfielder Blake Rutherford, Double-A outfielder Tito Polo and left-handed starter Ian Clarkin.

The Yankees definitely are better on paper with this trade, especially in the bullpen, and Frazier potentially can be a big run producer.
