The San Diego Padres, who finished 68-94 last season, have used Thursday's Rule 5 draft to try to add some much-needed talent to their roster by adding the top three players selected to their roster.
The Padres reportedly will trade for the first two players selected (right-hander Miguel Diaz and catcher Luis Torrens) and selected shortstop Allen Cordoba with the No. 3 pick from the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Minnesota Twins selected Diaz, a Milwaukee Brewers prospect, with the first pick but are expected to trade him to San Diego, according to MLB.
