Luis Severino’s Strong Outing Carries Yankees to Victory

ATLANTA — Luis Severino pitched six shutout innings, and Didi Gregorius and Brian McCann delivered key hits for the second consecutive game as the Yankees beat the Atlanta Braves, 3-1, on Saturday.

The victory allowed the Yankees to stay a game and a half behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East.

The Yankees never trailed, but they never built a comfortable lead, instead relying on Severino, who continued to shine after being called up from the minor leagues this month.

Severino, in his fifth major league start, allowed four hits, walked three and did not give up a run in six innings.
