Jacoby Ellsbury is playing again, as Yankees hold their breath

Jacoby Ellsbury returned to game action on Saturday for the first time since suffering a concussion crashing into the center-field wall at Yankee Stadium on May 24.

Ellsbury began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, playing center and batting second. He is scheduled to be the designated hitter for SWB on Sunday, then move to Double-A Trenton, since the Yankees’ Triple-A squad is headed on the road.

It is the next step in what has been a long process to get Ellsbury back from the concussion that has sidelined him for nearly a month.

Ellsbury took batting practice in The Bronx all week and on Wednesday was cleared to play.
