Let me be clear, Chase Headley is not the only reason the Yankees are losing ballgames right now. They’re 8-13 for a multitude of reasons; the offense is not performing, their starting pitching is not going deep enough into games, and their bullpen – while good – cannot be perfect every night.
Among all those team flaws, Chase Headley is standing out amongst the under-performers. Headley is absolutely killing the team right now. He is now batting .140 on the season with a grand total of zero extra base hits. At this point, he’s putting up historic numbers (just not the good kind):
