Yankees Rumors Roundup: Ivan Nova Avoids Arbitration And The Latest On Yoan Moncada

The New York Yankees are still one of the most active teams in baseball, and there are quite a few stories making their way through the rumor mill. Here's all the latest, as of 1/14:

Ivan Nova

The Yankees and Nova will avoid arbitration, with the righty signing a one-year deal that'll give him nearly an identical salary to what he made last year. Joel Sherman of the NY Post says Nova will make $3.3 million on the one-year contract.

Yoan Moncada

The Cuban prodigy is getting more and more hype with each passing day, and there are rumblings that his signing bonus could end up north of $30 million (!). The Yankees are very much still in the running for Moncada, but the Dodgers have joined the Yankees and the Red Sox at the top of the leaderboard. Don't expect an imminent resolution, though - Moncada still needs to be cleared by the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control before he can sign a deal.

Johan Santana

Yes, you read that right - the Yankees have again been linked to the 36-year-old Santana, currently working his way back to fitness in the Venezuelan winter leagues. A minor league deal would be the only realistic option here, but even that looks like a long shot unless the Yankees get truly desperate.
