Yankees Rumors Roundup: Austin Jackson, Omar Infante, Stephen Drew & More

The Yankees are still pursuing multiple trades and potential free-agent signings, and with negotiations ongoing there are several deals they could conclude before the end of the weekend.

Austin Jackson

The Yankees are seriously considering trading Brett Gardner to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Jackson, according to Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun. Jackson and Gardner are fairly similar players, but the Yankees like Jackson's age (at 27, he's three years younger than Gardner) and potential going forward.

Omar Infante

The Yankees' unwillingness to offer more than three years makes them unlikely to land Infante, according to the latest reports. Their 3 year, $24M offer remains on the table, but Infante is widely believed to be much closer to the Kansas City Royals, who are willing to go closer to the 4 years, $40M Infante is after.

Stephen Drew

Drew has crept into the discussion as a possibility if Infante goes elsewhere. Drew, a 2013 World Series champion with Boston and a Scott Boras client, won't come cheap - but when has that stopped the Yankees before?

Tommy Kahnle

Kahnle, a pitching prospect last with the Yankees AA affiliate in Trenton, is expected to depart in the Rule 5 draft. According to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News, prospect Danny Burawa could also be selected.
