Yankees Rumors: Manny Banuelos to pitch out of Yankees' bullpen in 2014?

Here's a quick bit of Yankees rumors to get you through the Tuesday doldrums--the Yankees may be looking internally to help flesh out their maligned bullpen for the 2014 season.

MLB sources are indicating that top prospect Manny Banuelos, who was originally promoted to the New York Yankees' big league roster in 2011, could be the only Yankees' farm hand with a relative chance at making the Yankees' roster out of Spring Training.

When called up in 2011, Manny Banuelos went just 2-4 with a 4.32 ERA. He was shut down for part of the 2012 season and the entire 2013 season after having Tommy John surgery.

An anonymous member of the Yankees' front office straightforwardly summed up the New York Yankees' feelings on Manny Banuelos earlier today--“Banuelos has got that big arm...if it’s still there and the lightning still strikes then you’re going see people say, ‘F— it, bring him with us [on Opening Day].’”

The Yankees' bullpen still remains a major question mark for a team that has dished out almost a half-billion dollars in salary this offseason. As of now, hard-throwing youngster David Roberston is the heir apparent to Mariano Rivera at closer.
