Yankees News: Yankees benefit from blown replay call against Red Sox

In Yankees news tonight, anyone who thought that human error would be eliminated with the advent of Major League Baseball's new replay rules should think again.

Per Yahoo Sports' Mark Townsend, the call happened in the eighth inning of Saturday's 7-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox: "With the Yankees batting in the home half of the eighth inning, rookie Dean Anna laced a ball into the right-field corner and raced into second base with a sliding double."

Anna reached the bag safely with no question, but proceeded to lift his foot from the bag while shortstop Xander Bogaerts held a tag on the rookie.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell came out and disputed the call which to many in the ballpark and at home would end in an obvious overturn. However, the umpires in charge of the replay monitors on Saturday flat out missed the call, confirming the original call.
