Yankees News: Astros Reportedly Interested In Signing Free Agent Closer David Robertson

If the New York Yankees are to re-sign closer David Robertson, it appears they may have to go through the Houston Astros to do so.

Per Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, "the Astros have communicated with Robertson’s agent Scott Leventhal to express their interest in the Yankees’ closer, an industry source said."

MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reported earlier this month that the Astros were "going hard" in search of a top-level closer. McTaggart named Robertson, Andrew Miller, and San Francisco's Sergio Romo as possibilities.

The Astros seem hellbent on raising themselves into the mix in a stacked American League West, so don't be too surprised if they are willing to pay Robertson the $13 million per year he's looking for over the span of a four-year contract.

Whether the young hurler is willing to leave the Bronx for a team that experts still believe is two years away from competing is still up in the air at this point.
