New York Yankees Rumors: Yankees Aggressively Pursuing Yoan Moncada Due To "Need"

The New York Yankees are one of a litany of teams in on Cuban super-prospect Yoan Moncada, but New York's aggressive tact in courting the young middle infielder could help separate them from the pack.

Per Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, "the Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Padres, Brewers, and Cubs have been the most aggressive, but the Athletics, Phillies, Tigers, Giants, Rays, and Rangers also covet him."

Cafardo adds that the Dodgers and Yankees "have a clear need for him," while the Red Sox are always interested in bring top talent into the organization.

With the 19-year-old wunderkind's price tag likely to include a $40-50 million bonus along with his normal salary, the trio of aforementioned teams might have to be considered the favorites due to just how much of a financial investment it will be to sign him.

One Yankees GM Brian Cashman and his scouting staff have fully done their due diligence on Moncada, don't be surprised if the Bronx Bombers' need for middle infield stability proves the difference in negotiations for the Cuban standout.
