New York Yankees Rumors: Cliff Lee A Potential Trade Option This Spring?

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Philadelphia Phillies could make veteran starter Cliff Lee available for trade this spring - a development which the New York Yankees could see as an opportunity of Lee is truly healthy:

Lee made just 13 starts for the Phillies in 2014 while battling elbow problems all season long. Those elbow troubles coupled with his $25 million price tag for 2015 (and $27.5 million option/$12.5 million buyout for 2016) will take him out of the wheelhouses of many MLB teams except for a select few.

The Yankees could be in that select few, especially with their own injury concerns (CC Sabathia, Masahiro Tanaka, etc.) from a pitching rotation standpoint. While bringing in another arm coming off an injury may not seem ideal, Lee at his best could be both the insurance and ace New York needs to make a deep run this coming season.

Stay tuned.
