NY Yankees Rumors: Yankees worried about CC Sabathia, velocity?

All one can hope for out of NY Yankees rumors in Spring Training is smooth sailing from a health standpoint. However, there may be some warning signs in regards to Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia and the velocity on his fastball.

The NY Yankees have put an emphasis on radar gun readings thus far this spring, and according to YesNetwork.com blog River Ave. Blues, CC Sabathia's first outing against the Philadelphia Phillies didn't come up with the results the Yankees want to see: "Sabathia topped out at 88 mph with his fastball on Saturday and sat mostly in the 86-88 mph range, which is far below what you want to see, even on March 1st."

However, the NY Yankees ace does not seem worried about where his fastball is so far in March. “My fastball is what it is. If it gets better, it will. If it’s not, it won’t. I can pitch. I’m fine. As long as I’m healthy I’ll be good," said Sabathia.

“I don’t make much of it,” NY Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “That was something people wanted to make a ton about last year and I’m not going to make much of it.”

At this point, it doesn't seem like anyone associated with the NY Yankees is too worried. Yet, it will be interesting to see if that view changes if Sabathia can't touch 90 mph with any regularity this year.
