MLB Trade Deadline: Yankees to trade for Phillies' Marlon Byrd?

In what has been proven to be a relatively weak trade market for impact bats, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd seemingly stands above the rest when it comes to available power threats currently being dangled.

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the New York Yankees might be the only team left standing when it comes to acquiring the 36-year-old right-handed slugger:

Byrd is owed $8 million in 2015 and has a vesting option for the same amount in 2016. At that time, Byrd will be 38 and could start seeing diminished returns production-wise. For a guy who strikes out in nearly 30% of his plate appearances, such a drop-off could be that much more pronounced.

Entering Wednesday's action, Byrd is hitting .273/.321/.483 with 20 home runs and 60 RBIs in 442 plate appearances.
