Rangers Sign Brandon Pirri

New York Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton has made another clever depth signing today. The Rangers have agreed to terms with free agent Brandon Pirri on a one-year, $1.1 million deal.

Pirri scored 14 goals last season in 63 games split between the Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers. In the 2014-15 season he scored 22 goals (and 2 assists) in just 49 games in his second year with the Panthers.

In a recent article for Today’s Slap Shot Sonny Sachdeva outlined why the Vancouver Canucks should consider grabbing Pirri to add depth to their offense.

Regardless, Pirri evened out the following year, proving to be somewhat of a middling offensive option.
