When it came time to vote for Rangers’ 2015-16 MVP, I was really torn. I mean, I didn’t think this was Henrik Lundqvist’s best season overall, and I thought he stumbled a bit down the stretch. But there really were no other candidates, and I voted for him partially by default (he won, I presume, easily).
The other reason I voted for him was simply that, if not for his other-worldly start, the Rangers don’t even make the playoffs. If not for him getting them — no, stealing them — points, maybe the whole season unravels the way December unraveled and the way late-March and April unraveled.
