Kevin Klein skates with Rangers, but can’t rush game return

PITTSBURGH — Kevin Klein was finally back on the ice with his teammates Monday morning, quite a bit later than he would have wanted.

The Rangers defenseman broke his left arm back on March 11, when he took an Alex Ovechkin slap shot in the forearm. The original timetable for his return was three-to-four weeks, which would have had him ready for Game 1 of this first-round series against the Penguins.

But Klein still isn’t ready for Monday night’s Game 3 at CONSOL Energy Center. Monday morning was the first time he had been cleared to skate with his teammates since the injury — missing the final 16 games of the regular season — but that’s because about a week and a half ago, he pushed too hard and his recovery halted.
