Mets bitten by injury again as momentum slams to a halt

Well, the Mets had a good week. The worm was bound to turn eventually in this Murphy’s Law of a season.

Riding high, with six wins in their last seven games, the Mets couldn’t even get through an inning Sunday before the bad news struck, quickly reminding them what this injury-riddled season has been all about.

Asdrubal Cabrera left the game with knee soreness, joining Yoenis Cespedes (quad) and Neil Walker (back) on the bench. Without the three key cogs that have powered this recent hot stretch, the Mets’ offense reverted to its offensive ways, producing just a Curtis Granderson sacrifice fly in a 5-1 loss to the Phillies at Citi Field.
