NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Don’t mess with the New York Yankees.
The Bombers took care of business against the crosstown rival Mets both on the field in the Bronx, where they won the rubber game of the Subway Series, and on social media Sunday night.
The team — or whoever runs its Twitter account — was apparently irked by the Mets repeatedly referring to the franchise as “New York (AL)” during the series finale. The Bombers responded and the Amazin’s came back with a haymaker. But the knockout punch went to New York (AL) — er, the Yankees — who reminded its National League counterpart who’s boss, at least until the clubs meet again in September.
