Mets News: Dillon Gee Placed On Disabled List, Noah Syndergaard Called Up

The New York Mets will place starting pitcher Dillon Gee on the disabled list, retroactive to Monday, with a diagnosed groin injury. In a corresponding move, the team called up Noah Syndergaard to take his active roster spot.

"Given the uncertainty of the groin, we decided to put him on the disabled list," general manager Sandy Alderson said of Gee, via NJ.com.

Rather than trying to cobble together a replacement while waiting to see whether Gee will be quickly rehab his injury, the team decided to slot Syndergaard in as Tuesday's starter and likely beyond until Gee is fully rested up and healed.

Syndergaard has made five starts at AAA Las Vegas this season, posting a 3-0 record with a sterling 1.82 ERA and 34-to-8 K/BB ratio.
