Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom was selected Monday night to the be on the National League team for the All-Star game. Jeurys Familia was snubbed.
deGrom is sixth in the league with a 2.30 ERA. He is also 8-6 with 102 strikeouts. It is his first All-Star game.
Familia, though, was certainly deserving as well — tied for fourth in saves with 22, and a miniscule 1.16 ERA.
He fell victim to the rule that every team must be represented. Relievers Jonathan Papelbon and former Met Francisco Rodriguez were the lone representatives of their teams.
