Thrust into the closer's role in mid-April, Familia has performed well enough that he is now trying to join teammate Jacob deGrom on the All-Star Game roster. Rapidly developing into one of the game's best shutdown relievers, Familia ranks second among NL closers in ERA, trailing only Trevor Rosenthal of the Cardinals. He has converted 22 of his 24 save attempts.
