The New York Liberty were eliminated from playoff contention on Saturday night at the Garden after a 101-94 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Mercury. It was a rough way to go out for the Liberty, who finished first in the Eastern Conference, but fell victim to the WNBA’s new one-game playoff format.
As always, it’s nice when members of the Knicks show support to their MSG sisters. Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway were the biggest Liberty backers on the team last summer, so somebody needed to pick up the slack. On Saturday it was new arrivals Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Willy Hernangomez:
