Leading up to the 2017 NBA trade deadline, the New York Knicks were engaged in trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The rumored trade would have swapped scoring point guard Derrick Rose for master facilitator Ricky Rubio.
For better or worse, the trade talks broke down at the last minute and the Knicks failed to execute the trade that many were expecting to see completed.
At the finish line, league sources say, New York was prepared to trade Derrick Rose for Ricky Rubio straight up. But the Wolves balked.
