Jeremy Lin could be the final piece of the Mavericks’ offseason overhaul.
The former Knicks point guard is considering taking a discount to sign with the Mavericks and reunite with former Rockets teammate Chandler Parsons, according to a Yahoo! Sports report. The Mavericks used their cap space this offseason to land DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews, but could execute a sign-and-trade with the Lakers or use their $2.8 million exception to sign Lin.
Lin signing with the Mavericks — the team’s top remaining priority, according to ESPN — would give him a chance to be the starting point guard after a tumultuous season with the Lakers during which he often found himself in coach Byron Scott’s doghouse and on the bench.
