Knicks Rumors Roundup: The Latest On Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, & More

With the Knicks’ continued struggles, the rumor mill has seemingly gone into overdrive…let’s take a look at the latest Knicks rumors:

CARMELO ANTHONY

Head coach Derek Fisher acknowledged that forward Carmelo Anthony could sit out for the remainder of the season with a lingering knee injury.

"From the conversations I've been a part of, I think everybody is smart enough to realize, calendar wise, timing wise, that there may come a point that that's the decision that needs to be made," Fisher said Friday. "But [we realize] that we can't force Carmelo to that point just yet."

Anthony said that having surgery on the knee is a "last resort" and that he's hoping to avoid anything of that nature until after the season.

RAJON RONDO

The Knicks are reportedly planning a big free agency push for Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo, according to Sporting News, as New York hasn't given up their pursuit of the former All-Star.

There will be other teams involved in the pursuit of Rondo. The Lakers have long expressed interest and still are expected to be among the first in line in the bidding for Rondo. The Knicks—yes, even with the triangle offense—are already certain to be in the mix, too, a source with knowledge of the situation told SN.

OTHER NOTES

Despite the terrible 5-30 start to the season, the New York Knicks are refraining from a fire-sale, putting everyone on their roster on the trade block. However, they are looking to unload some contract money and gain younger assets.
