Knicks News: Carmelo Anthony likely out for "the next week or so"

The New York Knicks aren't planning to place Carmelo Anthony on the shelf just yet, with head coach Derek Fisher indicating that the current plan would have Melo back in the lineup in mid-January.

“I don’t think shutting down is really the conversation that we’re having. [Anything] we’ve talked about, Carmelo is involved in all of the discussions, because it’s his body and his career. So we’re all talking about what’s best for him, what’s best for the team,’’ Fisher said, via the New York Post. “Right now, it’s taking some rest and recovery for the foreseeable future, maybe the next week or so."

Fisher says that the conversation hasn't gotten to the point where shutting down Carmelo Anthony for the entire season has really been brought up as an option.

“But not anything more than that has been discussed in terms of for the entire season. So I still feel strongly that if he, or we as a group feel that there’s a need to do that, we can get to the point where we can make that decision. But we’re nowhere near that."
