Knicks Coaching Rumors: Top Candidates As Of May 29th

In today's edition of Knicks coaching rumors, president Phil Jackson's sticking to his guns with his personal favorite to replace Mike Woodson as the team's head coach. Who is it? Who would the Knicks possibly turn to for Plan B or C? Keep reading our Top 3 Knicks Coaching Candidates As Of May 29th to find out:

3. Fred Hoiberg

The Knicks have reportedly shown interest in the Iowa State head coach, and the allure of coaching at legendary Madison Square Garden could be enough to sway him to listen. Hoiberg would most likely prefer a job which he would have more of a chance to mold the roster the way he sees fit. But, don't think that learning under Phil Jackson doesn't have it draws for the architect of the revived Cyclones basketball program.

2. Brian Shaw

Is he really a candidate?

The Nuggets say that Shaw will be back no matter what happens this offseason. Shaw has echoed those sentiments, pointing every possible clue toward a return for Phil Jackson's former assistant coach to the Mile High City.

But, Shaw is still being tossed around as a legitimate candidate by several NBA analysts - especially if Jackson's number one choice falls through. Why? Because this is the NBA and it is silly to believe people's words over their potential actions, especially when it comes to gaining leverage in a contract or trade situation.

1. Derek Fisher

He's still the man in New York until proven otherwise. Speculation is just going to amplify even further as Fisher continues to try and keep his focus on the Oklahoma City Thunder's playoff run. Will he tip his hand as the media scrutiny continues to grow? It's doubtful, especially for a professional of Fisher's caliber - and it's that exact professionalism which has the Zen Master halting his coaching search until he can have a full, man-to-man conversation with his former cornerstone sharpshooter.
