2012 Knicks Season Preview

The New York Knicks kick off the lockout-shortened 2012 NBA season as they host the rival Boston Celtics. The 66-game schedule, subsequent lack of an off-season, and minimal preseason put the new look Knicks somewhat behind the 8-ball compared to some other Eastern Conference foes.

New additions Tyson Chandler, Baron Davis, Mike Bibby and rookies Josh Harrellson and Iman Shumpert have had little to no time to adjust to playing in Mike D'Antoni's system, let alone alongside superstars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. Although it will take some time for everyone to gel on offense, there's no excuse for not working hard and giving 100% effort on the defensive end. Tyson Chandler and assistant coach Mike Woodson both bring a workman's mentality and should lead the way in the Knicks revamped efforts on the defensive end of the floor.

I definitely believe the Knicks are talented enough to be a top 4 team in the East and if, and this is a huge IF, they fully commit to playing hard-nosed defense game in and game out then I see no reason why they can not contend for a championship.

Prediction: 42-24 record, #3 seed in the East, definitely advancing to at least the second round of the playoffs.

I can't wait for Christmas Day! Let's start the season off with a W. Let's go Knicks!
