Source: Ryan Fitzpatrick agrees to deal with New York Jets

After months of exhaustive conversations and stalled negotiations, the Jets finally got their man: 33-year-old free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Hours after players reported for training camp, negotiations between the organization and Fitzpatrick’s agent finally heated up — with the help of a team-issued ultimatum that expired Wednesday evening. Soon the quarterback was back in the fold, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $12 million, a source confirmed. It also includes incentives that could push the deal to $15 million if Fitzpatrick hits specified benchmarks, the source said.

When the Jets’ 2015 season ended one win shy of the playoffs, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would reunite with the team quickly.
