Jets linebacker David Harris should be ready for Week 1, source says

With next week’s deadline looming, the Jets began the difficult task of trimming down their teams.

NFL clubs technically have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to cut their rosters from 90 to 75 players, but the Jets began the process by releasing 11 on Sunday, including a 2015 draft pick.

They also placed injured receiver Devin Smith (ACL) on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. That means the former Ohio State standout won’t be eligible to return until after six weeks.

Backup guard Jarvis Harrison was selected in the fifth round of last year’s draft, but didn’t impress the coaching staff in his second year in the league, and was cut.
