New York Islanders: Firing Jack Capuano is precursor to the new egime

In fact, their awful start put them in the last place in the Eastern Conference.

Jack Capuano never received an extension from the new Islanders ownership along with general manager Garth Snow. The new owners were evaluating both of them this year before they were ready to give them extensions.

So, it wasn’t surprising that the Islanders fired Capuano last Monday afternoon. Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky were not happy with the Islanders’ play all season, and they have put their beleaguered general manager on notice weeks ago.

It’s hard to believe it was Snow’s call to fire Capuano.
