In a game highlighted by the spectacular play of Columbus’ rookie goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, the Islanders managed to squeak two points out of the contest, as they beat the Blue Jackets 3-2 in a shootout. The Isles remained perfect against their division rival with last night’s win, improving to 4-0 against the Jackets this season.
The Isles have now won two straight games, which although is not a lengthy winning streak, is very important at this point. The standings are still as tight as they’ve ever been, and those four points make a big difference. On Sunday the Islanders were out of the playoff picture.
