COLUMBUS — Cal Clutterbuck’s shootout goal gave the Islanders a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets Tuesday night and two much-needed points in the playoff chase.
Blue Jackets rookie goaltender Joonas Korpisalo was locked in, making 44 saves, 17 in a perfect second period as Columbus took a 2-1 lead into the third. But on a power play, Kyle Okposo found Anders Lee in front of the net and Lee slid one through Korpisalo’s pads to tie it at 5:27 of the third.
The Islanders swarmed for the regulation winner the rest of the way, outshooting Columbus 14-2, then pumping seven more shots in overtime.
