Cardinals 25, Giants 14 - What We Learned

After a closely-fought first half in East Rutherford, the Cardinals pulled away from the Giants in an intense second half.

Halftime Quick Hitters: Giants Trail Cardinals 10-7 In East Rutherford

Here's what we learned from this one:

New York's Offense Needs Work

Eli Manning was solid after an early interception, but got almost no help from an ineffectual ground game that only averaged 3 yards per carry. Manning tossed another pick late on a Hail Mary with nine seconds left, but the game was already over by then.

Arizona's Defense Is Proving The Doubters Wrong

After losing Darnell Dockett (injury), Daryl Washington (suspension) and Karlos Dansby (free agency) before the season started, most observers thought the Cards' defense would be significantly worse in 2014. So far, that hasn't been the case, and while we don't have a large enough sample size to say they're just as good, they've looked very solid through two weeks.

New York Has To Solve The Turnover Problem

You can't win any games with a -4 turnover differential, and the Giants need to take better care of the ball if they want to salvage this season.

Arizona Is Resilient

Backup Drew Stanton did okay in the absence of starting QB Carson Palmer, but it was a balanced, team effort on offense that gave Arizona the edge they needed. If that team effort can continue, the Cards might be able to snag a wild card spot despite their position in the loaded NFC West.
