An uninspiring — and frankly boring — first half between New York City FC and the Chicago Fire was rewarded with fireworks, as NYCFC, down a man, exploded in the second half to trudge past Chicago, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
“I saw a team who didn’t want to lose that game,” NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira said. “Even when we went down with ten men, the team wanted to win and keep going forward. Of course, when you play a team like [Chicago], you have to suffer. We suffered a lot today.
