On Wednesday, Ilkay Gündogan and Gabriel Jesus visited the City in the Community New York project at Lexington Academy in East Harlem as part of the Manchester City FC U.S. Tour announcement. The rooftop pitch provides hundreds of community kids with a safe place to play soccer free of charge.
Lexington Academy is the same site where MCFC and the UAE Embassy teamed up to build a state-of-the-art synthetic grass rooftop pitch back in 2010 and where NYCFC officially launched in 2013.
