Jarrius Robertson, the 15-year-old member of the Big Easy Mafia, and also an Official Saints Superfan of the Big Easy Mafia, couldn’t announce the team’s third-round draft choice in Philadelphia as planned because he is finally receiving a long-awaited liver transplant back home.
“We finally got our hero,” Robertson’s father, Jordy, said in a nervous but excited Facebook video, asking for prayers from his son’s growing fan base throughout the country.
Jarrius Robertson is expected to have surgery Saturday afternoon.
Jarrius, who signed a “contract” last year on Good Morning American to become an official “hype man” for the Saints, has become a larger-than-life figure around the team, handing out an award on the NFL Honors awards show with Sean Payton and Harry Connick Jr.
