Pelicans waive Cook, Toupane

The New Orleans Pelicans continued to shape their 2017-18 roster on Tuesday as the team waived guard Quinn Cook and guard/forward Axel Toupane, according to nba.com.

Cook, an undrafted player out of Duke University, played in 14 total games in 2016-17, five with the Dallas Mavericks and nine with New Orleans. As a Pelican, the 6-2, 184-pound Cook averaged 5.8 points and 1.6 assists in just over 12 minutes a night. Cook played well during the recent Summer League, but with several guards on the roster, including recently-signed Rajon Rondo, there simply wasn’t room for the Duke product.
