Ex-Devils GM Lou Lamoriello won't act 'New Jersey way' with Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maples Leafs and Auston Matthews, the first overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft reached an entry-level deal Thursday, where Matthews will receive the max salary and bonuses allowed under the current CBA.

The deal isn't shocking, given Matthews' draft spot, but ex-Devils general manager and current Maple Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello hasn't had the history of giving in to full bonuses for draft picks.

But on a conference call with reporters, Lamoriello said he won't be doing things the "New Jersey way."

Lamoriello says when he came to Toronto he decided that he wouldn't be operating the "New Jersey way.
