Devils make 9 qualifying offers | What it means

The Devils made nine qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents on Monday prior to the 5 p.m. deadline.

They offered forwards Joseph Blandisi, Blake Coleman, Stefan Noesen, Blake Pietila, Kevin Rooney and Ben Thomson, plus Defensemen Vojtech Mozik and Damon Severson, and goalie Scott Wedgewood.

Defenseman Mirco Mueller, who the Devils acquired from the San Jose Sharks on June 16, received a qualifying offer from the Sharks prior to the trade. So while the Devils did not offer him, he remains a restricted free agent under the Devils' control.

Forward Beau Bennett did not receive a qualifying offer, while forward Jacob Josefson was slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so he was not eligible for a qualifying offer.
