NEWARK -- The Devils found the equalizer in the second period but surrendered the lead for good over the final 20 minutes.
The Carolina Hurricanes scored twice in the third period, capping a 3-1 win over the Devils on Saturday at the Prudential Center.
The Hurricanes took a 2-1 lead with 10:26 left in regulation when forward Jeff Skinner picked the pocket of Devils defenseman Andy Greene at the blue line, leading to a breakaway where he scooped a shot past goalie Cory Schneider.
Devils defenseman Andy Greene is the team's Masterton Trophy nominee for the 2016-17 season.
