Devils center Travis Zajac will miss four to six months after undergoing successful surgery for a torn left pectoral muscle.
The surgery was performed on Thursday morning after Zajac suffered the injury during offseason training last week.
Based on the estimated time of recovery, Zajac could return to the Devils' lineup as early as December or as late as February.
The 32-year-old Zajac has been a staple at center for the Devils, and he has been remarkably durable over the course 11-season career. Outside of the 2011-12 season, where he was limited to 15 games, Zajac has played in at least 74 games in every season.
