NEWARK - Colton White signed his first NHL deal with the Devils Wednesday, and fittingly, but it wasn't his luckiest day in hockey.
At an offseason skate that day, White took a deflected puck off the right ear just before the start of training camp.
But 12 stitches later, White was good as new, and ready to hit the ice for the Devils. The 19-year-old was rewarded with his entry-level contract, but he's still got bigger things on his mind.
